Do push subscriptions count as connections?

Push subscriptions don't count as connections. Your peak connections will just be the number of publish connections if you only have push devices subscribing.

As for channels, the channel will be activated when a push notification is published to it so your peak channel count will be the number of channels you simultaneously publish to.
